Homemade chocolate is the favorite dessert for most children and adults. However, store-bought chocolate contains many harmful additives, preservatives, dyes and other substances that are harmful.
In order to enjoy the taste of chocolate, you no longer need to go to the store, but you can prepare your homemade chocolate inside your kitchen. Someone told you that chocolate is unhealthy and bad? They lied.
Here’s how to make homemade chocolate bars with coconut oil.
Homemade Coconut Oil Chocolate
For this recipe you will need:
- 12 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (if you are a diabetic you can use liquid stevia)
- 3/8 cup raw cacao powder
- Pinch of Himalayan salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or 1 vanilla stick (optional)
- A little bit of orange zest (optional)
First, dissolve the coconut oil in a frying pan. Then, mix the melted oil and cacao powder thoroughly with a hand blender. Add the honey, salt, vanilla extract and orange zest and mix once again. When all the ingredients are combined pour the mixture into the molds and leave in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. You can use ice cube trays as well. That’s it. Enjoy your homemade chocolate-that is tasty and healthy at the same time.
Coconut oil contains many saturated fatty acids. Medium fatty acids are 60% in the total composition of coconut oil. The three main fatty acids in coconut oil are lauric, caprylic and capric – that are responsible for most of the benefits coconut oil provides to the human body. Of these three, lauric acid is the most important. They pass through the metabolism in a different way, then the polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are absorbed in the intestines and are directly sent to the liver where they burn out to generate energy. Therefore, they do not pass through the bloodstream and do not accumulate fat deposits.
Cacao, on the other hand, is known as a plant that keeps the body from free radicals, reduces stress and depression, and protects your heart and blood vessels. It’s an excellent source of iron! One tablespoon of cocoa a day reduces the risk of dementia by almost half! Flavonoids in the cacao are excellent antidepressants, as they stimulate the secretion of so-called “hormones of happiness”, serotonin and endorphins, which affect your mood.
The combination of coconut oil and raw cacao is great for your body as well as for your mind and mood. This quick recipe will cheer you up and nourish your body at the same time. We kindly suggest you try it!
