After Sylvia Martin’s husband passed away, she never thought that she would find love again. But years after his passing, Sylvia met a fellow retirement home resident named Frank Raymond.
As soon as they met, Sylvia knew that Frank was the person she wanted to spend her life with. However, despite Frank’s numerous attempts to propose to his love, Sylvia never accepted.
That all changed this year and the blushing 93-year-old bride needed help with one of the biggest wedding decision there is: picking a dress.
The great-grandmother from Canberra, Australia stopped by a store in her hometown with the hope that she would find the perfect dress. Instead of wearing white, Sylvia wanted to stand out in a stunning red gown.
She spent hours in the store combing the shelves with her bridesmaids and selected four dresses that she loved equally – now she just needed someone to help her make the final choice!
The shop’s staff members had an idea on how to help Sylvia. They posted four snapshots of Sylvia sporting each of the dresses and posted them on the company’s Facebook page.
Here’s what they wrote:
“Sylvia, 93, visited our store with her bridesmaids in tow to help choose a dress for her wedding to Frank, 88. They live together in a retirement village.
Frank and Sylvia have known each other for more than 20 years, and Frank has ‘many times’ asked Sylvia to marry him.”
“Sylvia has always refused, thinking that to take a new surname would be disrespectful to her deceased husband.
A year ago Sylvia took ill and moved to Canberra to be near her family, and Frank thought all hope was lost. When Sylvia recovered, she found Frank, who was living in Adelaide, and convinced him to move to Canberra to be with her.
Frank arrived a couple of months ago and again asked Sylvia to marry him. Sylvia had learned that you can keep your own surname when you marry, and so said yes.
We’re thrilled to play a tiny role in Sylvia’s love story – and think you’ll love it, too. So, what should Sylvia wear to her wedding?”
Should Sylvia wear the stunning two-piece outfit as seen above? Or should she select the floral dress that would be sure to catch Frank’s eye?
Another option was the long-sleeved beauty in the image below. Not only does she look fabulous, but she would also be warm on her wedding day!
But lace is always a safe choice for a wedding! This half-sleeved dress looks amazing with a strand of pearls gracefully draped on top.
There were four perfect options, but one of them won by a landslide! Which dress do you think Sylvia picked for her wedding day?
More than 5,000 votes were tallied and the final section was made! Sylvia chose the gorgeous red lace dress as seen above and felt like a gorgeous bride on her wedding day!
The best part about it was that it only cost Sylvia about $260 – what a steal!
